I recently took a stroll down West Street and checked out Glenwood South’s latest residential project. The Alexan looks set to open later this year, with much of the exterior work nearing completion. The homes with balconies on the north side will offer a great view overlooking the train tracks.

The Noble Place Townhomes are looking fresh and will soon be ready for their first tenants. Townhomes like these are a great transition from the higher density apartment buildings and I wish we saw more of them in and around downtown Raleigh.

It’s kind of crazy to watch the work taking place over at the future North Carolina Education Campus. This project is using an entire city block. To the best of my knowledge, it’s all office space which is kind of wild given the state of commercial real estate here in the year 2024. I’ll let you take that however you want.

The dust seems to have settled on Seaboard Station. Landscaping is still ongoing but the newest buildings in downtown Raleigh’s northern gateway are looking fresh, the sidewalks are clean enough to eat off of, and new retail and eats announcements are getting people excited.

Here’s a nice perspective I captured showing the Raleigh Union Station Bus Facility, or RUS Bus, that’s been under construction for the better part of this year. It’s not that clear from the street but from a higher vantage point, you can see the orientation of the bus station and the future location of high-rise developments. The bus station is planned to be in operation in 2025 but the site is nowhere close to being complete.

The apartments at The Maeve look almost ready and will absolutely be ready for their advertised move in timeframe of Spring 2025. It’s all interior work at the moment as the apartments get ready for new downtown residents.

We are so, so close to the opening of one of downtown’s newest hotels. In a way, it’ll be two hotels as we’re getting two brands under one roof in the Homewood Suites and Tempo both by Hilton. The lobby looks real good and you can already make a reservation.
Continue reading →Above is the Raleigh City Council meeting (watch on YouTube) that included a presentation, public comments, and a vote on the plan to rebuild the Red Hat Amphitheater just south of its current location, resulting in the closure of South Street between Dawson and McDowell Streets. It’s worth watching, as you can really see the council’s thoughtful deliberation on this issue. I encourage readers to give it a view.
